The Northern Opera Company’s double bill brings together two contemporary works exploring transformation and the relationship between humans and their environment.
De profundis (Variation II) unfolds through a dialogue between music, installation, and shadow art. The performance asks: in the midst of the ecological crisis, who is salvation for.
Silkkiperhonen (The Silk Butterfly) is a monologue opera about a woman sewing a red dress through the night. The waters held back by a hyrdopower dam flow through the performance, where personal memories interwine tiwh the surrounding materials and landscape.
The event is par of the Uuden Musiikin Lokakuu (October of New Music) Festival.
