Three women travel around Lake Oulu, inspired by German hiking romance and accompanied by R. Schumann’s song series (Liederkreis op. 39).
Liederkreis, der Kreis, means ring, circle, cycle in Finnish. The cycle of songs composed in twelve poems by Joseph von Eichendorff (1788–1857) also means the cycle of life. Several poems in the series take place in the forest and there are many descriptions of nature. The visual concert is built on the landscape of being on the road and the cyclical theme of the series. The songs are performed while wandering around Lake Oulujärvi, and each text takes on a different landscape, which finally turns into one.
